Division Spotlight: The Orthopaedic Center

Published December 9, 2015

The Orthopaedic Center opened the doors of its Rockville, Maryland office in 1979. Soon after, current president and senior physician Dr. Leo Rozmaryn joined the practice.

Nearly 30 years later, the division has evolved and expanded from its Rockville office, opening additional offices in Germantown, Maryland and Washington, D.C. Each location offers physical therapy with a focus on sports medicine and rehabilitation, providing continued personalized care throughout the recovery process. Today, the division’s staff includes eight physicians, seven physical therapists and three occupational therapists. As a result, they are proud to have more than 40,000 annual patient visits.

From prevention to rehabilitation, the physicians of The Orthopaedic Center provide a wide range of comprehensive musculoskeletal services, including cutting edge techniques and leading orthopaedic procedures. Minimally-invasive fusion sparing procedures, motion sparing technologies, such as disc replacement and X-Stop, as well as innovation developments in micro-arthroscopy of the hand are among a sampling of the division’s leading techniques. Advanced procedures also include pediatric ACL reconstruction, ultrasound guided injections, reserve shoulder surgery and more.

The division’s orthopaedic specialties include hand and upper extremity surgery, foot and ankle care, orthopaedic surgery of the spine, sports medicine and total joint replacement and reconstruction. Through quality care and seasoned experience, The Orthopaedic Center helps patients return to their active lifestyles faster and stronger than before.

For The Orthopaedic Center, commitment and care extend beyond the office and into the communities it diligently serves. Members of the division are affiliated care providers for the D.C. United soccer team,  Montgomery College, multiple high schools, and volunteer at the Annual Cherry Blossom Run.

Practice physicians also have a deep commitment to the global community of care. On several occasions, including Hurricane Katrina and the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, the physicians and staff of The Orthopaedic Center joined together in a true team effort to support the greater good so Dr. Rozmaryn could travel and provide help where it was most needed.

In tandem with their deep commitment to patient care and community outreach, the physicians of The Orthopaedic Center remain active in their academic pursuits. They lecture nationally with original scientific work and contribute to numerous peer reviewed journals and publications, including  The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, The American Journal of Sports Medicine, The Physician and Sports Medicine and The Journal of Hand Surgery. Many physicians also are credited for their book contributions and solo publications.

In light of mounting industry pressures, The Orthopaedic Center sought camaraderie and strength among like-minded orthopaedic surgeons who shared in the same spirit of dedicated, personalized care. Joining The Centers allows the division to enjoy the unmatched resources that only a large medical group can provide, while staying true to the patient-focused principles of private practice medicine.
