Bill's Story
I’ve competed at a national level in a variety of sports over my life and am still very active today, from mountain biking to teaching karate for kids through a local community program. That’s why when I started having knee pain a couple of years ago and found out from the doctor back in Massachusetts that I would eventually need both of my knees replaced, I started looking for options. That led to lots of research and me exploring a variety of biological solutions and nutritional ways to try to limit my pain and avoid surgery. Well, that didn’t seem to work, and I was beginning to notice that I was getting bowlegged thanks to the loss of bone on both sides of my knees from all of my really active years. I was now living in DC and began searching for the right specialist for my knees and soon found Dr. Tran at The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics, who had a highly impressive reputation. I scheduled an appointment and soon learned that I would not need full knee replacements due to having healthy joints and instead was able to do two partial knee replacements. So, in I went for my first knee, the left one, and the worst of the two.
The result: I was up and walking on crutches the next day, crutchless by day three, on an exercise bike by week two, and back on my own mountain bike by week three. I’m telling you, I could not have been happier and was ready to get my right knee done, which I soon did. Now I’m five months out on both knee surgeries, just turned 60, my bowlegs are gone and I’m back in the gym squatting a couple hundred pounds. All I can say is Dr. Tran was dialed-in like a high-performance athlete when it came to my knee surgery and the results speak for themselves. Dr. Tran and CAO were the right choices for me.
