Dr. Scott Adams Serves as the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team Physician
Dr. Scott Adams, of Orthopaedic Associates of Central Maryland, has been the team physician for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team for the last several years. Dr. Adams’ responsibilities include assessing soccer-related injuries, diagnosing them and suggesting the best course of action. He is also the team’s primary care physician, and diagnoses and treats acute illnesses while the team is traveling. Most recently, Dr. Adams traveled with the team to Spain and Jamaica.
Dr. Adams emphasizes injury prevention with the athletes and coaches, working to avoid injuries that can sideline athletes, such as Achilles tendon injuries. He also works with the soccer association to educate athletes about concussions. Dr. Adams says that his biggest responsibility as the team physician is to assess whether or not an athlete can continue to play with their injury.
