Mid-Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute Gives Back to Veterans

Published December 10, 2015

On Veterans Day, physicians at the Mid-Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute Division, in partnership with Community Radiology Associations (CRA), donated their time and orthopaedic expertise as a way to give back to local veterans in need. The Veterans Day function was a huge success, allowing MMI physicians to see 28 local veterans for free exams.

Dr. Frank Nisenfeld and Dr. Mark Chilton treated veterans with general orthopaedic concerns, while hand surgeon Dr. Kristin Nesbitt examined those with hand and wrist issues. Dr. Damian Roussel, podiatrist and foot and ankle surgeon, saw veterans with foot or ankle concerns. CRA performed necessary x-rays free of charge.

Dr. Nisenfeld and Dr. Chilton both have personal ties to the military. Dr. Chilton’s two brothers spent 28 years each in the Air Force. Dr. Nisenfeld is a veteran of the Army Medical Corp, completed is orthopaedic surgical residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital and served as chief orthopaedic surgeon at Kimbrough Army Hospital. While community service has always been important to the division, these personal ties motivated the physicians to offer their services to local veterans.

Please join us in congratulating MMI on such a great philanthropic initiative!
