Dr. Michael Goldsmith Named Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Sibley Memorial Hospital

Dr. Michael Goldsmith has been in practice at the Summit Orthopaedics Division in Chevy Chase, Maryland for 15 years, specializing in adult and pediatric spine surgery. He has been operating out of Sibley Memorial Hospital throughout his years at the Summit Orthopaedics Division, and has recently accepted the role of Chief of Orthopedic Surgery. In that role, he will be responsible for managing the orthopedic department with the help of the ancillary staff. His duties include resident education and supervision of the George Washington University Orthopedic Residents during their rotations, coordination of the weekly orthopaedic Grand Rounds, managing the orthopaedic call schedule and ER coverage, and credentialing the physicians in the department.

Dr. Goldsmith will be involved in multiple committees as a part of his new position, including the Surgical Advisory Board, and will continue his position on the Medical Executive Committee as the Surgeon at Large. One of his main goals for his first year in this new role is to help transition the Department of Orthopedic Surgery to the hospital’s brand new facility, which will be opening in September of 2016.
