A Message From Our Chief Compliance Officer

Published December 6, 2016

Over the past year, we have seen many regulatory changes, increased funding for governmental auditing practices, and increased fines. These items and others add to the importance of a strong compliance program now more than ever before.

As we enter into 2017, our motto and commitment should be that “we will be proactive, not reactive.”  Being prepared is the best remedy when dealing with compliance issues and needs, just like any storm. We will live this motto by ensuring our trainings are current and documented, our policies and procedures are taught and understood by staff, and audits and drills are performed to emphasize understanding.

2016 has been a great year of growth and development for The Centers’ compliance program. We have improved in numerous areas, including policies and procedures development, training accountability, reporting capability, and auditing and monitoring tracking. None of this could have been done without you!

This is a wonderful time of the year to reflect and appreciate those around you. Therefore, I want to be one of the first to show my appreciation. Thank you! I appreciate all the hard work you do for our patients, staff, members, visitors, business partners, and vendors to improve the compliance culture of CAO.  Enjoy this holiday season, and be well!
