Dr. Philip Schneider of the Montgomery Orthopaedics Care Center served as a representative of the North American Spine Society on The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ MACRA Episode-Based Resource Use Measures Clinical Committee this past year. The committee was primarily responsible for developing recommendations for bundled payment groups for CMS to review and measure costs. As one of just a few spine surgeons on the committee, Dr. Schneider’s role was to recommend appropriate spinal procedures for the bundled payment model, including spinal fusion, spinal fractures and kyphoplasty surgery.
