Program Integrity Issues in EHRs

The increasing use of electronic health records (EHRs) creates a need to develop and change how to identify and address Federal healthcare program integrity vulnerabilities.

Program integrity depends on consistent incentives for better patient outcomes within a context that avoids over-or-underutilization of services. As such, it is important that we familiarize ourselves with program integrity tools and techniques that can help The Centers' physicians, managers and staff recognize, report and prevent fraud, waste and abuse.
