Physical Therapy Growth at Mid-Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute

Published August 1, 2017

The Mid-Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute is growing its physical therapy offering through the creation of a sports medicine specialty team of rehab providers and physicians. The goal is to streamline care for every athlete, from the moment they walk through the door for their first visit until they are back on the field again. The specialty team is modeled after MMI’s hand team, which has found significant success from all hand therapists working closely together and understanding each other’s strengths and preferences. MMI’s goal is to build a sports medicine team with the same level of unity and communication to achieve the best results for patients.

The sports medicine team will be led by Dr. Jeff Gilsdorf, Dr. James Steinberg and Dr. Matthew Levine, as well as Randal Krebs, PT, ATC, CSCS and Katie DuFrene, DPT, ATC. MMI is on pace to open a new facility in the next few months, which will be outfitted with additional strength training and sport-specific equipment. MMI expects to see enhanced efficiency and outcomes in athletes who are returning to competition.
