Since opening its doors in 1986, Bay Area Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine has maintained a keen focus on assisting patients through every phase of their orthopaedic care.

The care center was founded by Dr. Edwin Fulton in Anne Arundel County, Maryland and has been growing ever since. Bay Area Orthopaedics currently has three board certified physicians, one podiatrist, one certified registered nurse practitioner, three physical therapists, two physical therapist assistants and three physician assistants, with locations in Glen Burnie, Arnold/Annapolis and Chester/Eastern Shore, Maryland.

Founder Dr. Edwin Fulton passed away on May 24, 2017, as a respected orthopaedic surgeon and decorated Vietnam War Veteran. His vision to provide patients with the highest quality of care has shaped the strategic growth of Bay Area Orthoapedics & Sports Medicine over the years and left a legacy on the community.

As guided by Dr. Fulton, the division expanded into diverse specialties as it grew, intentionally finding opportunities to offer patients a more comprehensive range of care. Over the years, Bay Area Orthopaedics expanded from its sole offering of general orthopaedics to a variety of services including spine surgery, total joint replacement, pain management, sports medicine, arthroscopic knee and shoulder repair, podiatry and more.

In recent years, the care center also introduced a growing physical therapy program. The addition of physical therapy services aligns with Bay Area Orthopaedics’ mission to provide quality care up to and through rehabilitation and recovery. From start to finish, the care center’s friendly, knowledgeable staff is dedicated to helping patients return to their active lifestyles as quickly as possible. This means ensuring that patients receive appropriate orthopaedic or physical therapy care as soon as it is needed.

In order to provide timely treatment, the care center’s physicians operate out of a local surgery center and two hospitals, making patient access to quality care as convenient as possible. With extended physical therapy hours, on-site DME, radiology suites and imaging, Bay Area Orthopaedics meets the needs of patients’ busy schedules.

Bay Area Orthopaedics' decision to join The Centers was rooted in its desire to be a part of a growing consortium of orthopaedic physicians devoted to the highest level of patient care. The care center is proud of its local roots and The Centers’ strengthening national presence.
