Care Center Spotlight: Washington Circle Orthopaedic Associates
Founded in 1980, the Washington Circle Orthopaedic Associates division of The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics is a long-standing orthopaedic group in Washington, DC. Founders Dr. Peter Moskovitz and Dr. James Graeter offered subspecialty trained orthopaedic care for patients experiencing spine, hip, knee and general orthopaedic concerns. Over time the group has grown and shifted, at one time having as many as four orthopaedic surgeons.
The group has practiced for almost the entire lifetime of the organization from their current location near Foggy Bottom. Today Washington Circle Orthopaedic Associates is the practice home of Dr. Craig Faulks and Dr. David Lutton. As a fellowship trained sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Faulks practices general orthopedics with special expertise in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder and ankle. He also specializes in knee and hip replacement surgery.
As a fellowship trained Shoulder and Elbow surgeon, Dr. Lutton is an expert in both minimally invasive and open shoulder and elbow surgery. He has a high-volume shoulder arthroplasty and arthroscopic practice. Dr. Lutton tackles complex fractures and revision cases specific to the shoulder and elbow. Dr. Faulks and Lutton are supported by a nimble staff. While their team members each have core tasks assigned, they are all cross trained and able to step in when needed to assist with the patient care experience. Most members of the team have been with the group for a number of years.
Both surgeons at Washington Circle have academic interests and serve as Assistant Clinical Professors at nearby George Washington University. Dr. Lutton takes his academic pursuits beyond Washington, teaching both regional and national shoulder arthroplasty and sports medicine courses. Additionally, Dr. Faulks enjoy servings as team physician to local schools and teams including Washington Kastles tennis, Washington & Liberty High School and Sidwell Friends School. Dr. Lutton assists with the care at these athletic events.
Washington Circle offers X-ray and DME on site, and shares space in-office with the physical therapy team of another CAO care center, Summit Orthopaedics. This allows them to offer orthopaedic services from diagnosis to rehabilitation in one location.
The group joined CAO to be part of a large orthopedic community that has the common goal and vision to provide excellent orthopedic care. CAO provides a smaller division a voice in changing the healthcare environment for the better.
